I recived my PWA today and have been thinking about some things in it all day while working on the '53.
1st, I feel guilty that the PWA is going internet (partially) I am guilty of listing stuff for sale here and not also listing it in the PWA.
I dont know exactly why I feel bad about it I just do.
I know that ad's and articles help put heft to the PWA. Out of all the bills and junk mail I get over the month, it's really great to get the PWA with the great articles and pictures. I hope it's going to be around for a long time. I going to do my part, the Califorina Rally organizers asked me to put together a article for the PWA and I'm working on it right now, just waiting for the pictures to come back from the photo house. I also sent Gordon a stack of pictures a few months back. Made my wife (O.K. me too) cry when we saw a picture of our little boy riding in a Power-Wagon in the PWA.
Secondly I read with great interest Glen's article. Glen, I for one would like to say that I dont think anyone sees you as a "software geek going through a mid-life crisis". It's been fun getting to know you as you have come into the P-W culture a little over a year ago. You have some profound insights on life to offer to the group. (I'm not so sure about you guys trying to cook your beer next to the fire, but to each his own I guess.)
It is true that you have had some problems with your truck, but even if you got your truck with all the bolts tightened and all the seals and gasketts in place, you would be working on it just as much. As all owners know, these trucks are constant maintanence. (Either that or you just let them rattle and leak oil all over the place!) If anyone were to give grief about your truck, it's all out of jealousy. It's a really a super nice piece of equipment.
And besides that, all the oil spilling out of it really helped keep the dust down around the campground!
