i have the same machine here at work. it is a 1952 hobart DC arc welder 400 amp. powered by a 230, 1800rpm load speed.6 volt positive ground. The generator is 120 volt DC only. Only use power tools that will work 120 ac/dc or you will burn them up. It is a good running welder, plenty of power to run large dia. rod. $500.00 would be a very good price if it is in good condition...probably worth in the $1200 range.
