Detailed Breakdown |
T137- |
This is the Engineering code for 1946-1957 WDX to K6-W300 Power-Wagons. The engines in that era were labeled based on the trucks engineering code, so Power-Wagon engine numbers were prefixed with T137. |
|
This is what the parts books show the W300M engine in the Power-Wagon was
labeled in 1958, but Dodge did not seem to use this system of labeling. |
|
The parts books books show the number L6 D3 to be only for 230ci engines in
1 ton 2wd 1958 Dodge trucks, but this label is found on the engine in many
models of light duty 2wd and 4wd Dodge trucks. Actual trucks show that for
the most part Dodge stamped all of the engines of the same size with the
same code, instead of labeling them differently for each model as was done
in previous years.

This is what the parts books show the W300M Power-Wagons engine number should be in 1959, but Dodge did not seem to use this system of labeling. |

Starting in 1960 Dodge decided to add some more info to the engine number, the month and day the engine was made.
These engines are supposed to have a sequential build number after the date, but this has not yet been shown on real trucks. |

For some reason the parts books swap from T being the first digit like in 1961-62 to being the second digit in 63-67. This number has yet to be found on a real truck |
|
This is a guess as to what the engine number is in 1963, there is not enough data yet to prove it, and it might be T251. |
