michelin has bought B.F.Goodrich (claimed the space shuttle tire as theirs when it was a product of US engineers) along with U.S. Royal (UNIROYAL) and others
do not think standard wheels will go to metric. years back michelin introduced some 390wheels & tires on mustang but they did not fly. 165x400 was one of the first radial tires introduced (citroen early 60's or late 50's) along with the 165x380 (165r15)
330 = 13in, 355=14in, 380=15in, 404=16in,
430 = 17in, 455=18in, etctires have undergone a few major sizing changes in the last 50years
bottom line a 9.00x16 is a 100% aspect ratio tire if metric it would be 225/100r16
9in top/9in bottom 16hole in middle = 34in OD
not rocket science
