Used Brake Line to feed the carb with

I was able to use brake line to feed the carb from the fuel pump with a solid steel line. Now befor I put it in is there a problem putting the fuel filter befor the Fuel Pump it would be above the tank? Since I have the incoming line mounted solid I need a flex conection for going to the engine and thought this would be a good place for the filter. Mark H.
