I am completely unfamiliar with any of the Chrysler L-Heads other than the Power-Wagon 230 engine. I did have one truck in which someone had transplanted a 218 inplace of the 230. It had a dipstick and tube that were about half the length of those found on my current trucks. The gent from who I bought the truck, told me that it was a Plymouth car engine. I guess that a shorter tube on a car engine would make sense as there would not be as much oil sloshing around in a vehicle strictly driven on the road as would be expected in a vehicle designed for off road use such as the Power-Wagon. I wonder if an engine without a tube altogether could possibly be an industrial engine disigned for stationary use where oil sloshing out around the dipstick was not a concern?
