When I've had the occasion to replace freeze plugs/frost plugs/casting plugs (call'em what you will) I've noticed a sold wire inside the block. What is the purpose of this wire? Also in looking at my 55 230 it has the oil dipstick tude mounted in pan, but the block has a hole for the dipstick as well? Must be a rebuild or perhaps the oil pan was replaced?
