PW Drivetrain Capacity

It seems that there have been a few high powered engine swaps into early PW's ( 1946 - 1968, I still don't know the right nomenclature!). Is there any sense of how well the stock PW drivetrain holds up to the increased horsepower and torque of a V-8. I'm particularly interested in the transfer case, the drive shafts and the axles.Thanks
