It will be real hard to install a Cummings engine... It is much easier to install a Cummins (sorry couldn't resist, I do the typo bit all the time myself...)
Seriously:
A Cummins 4BT is an easy swap that gives a very driveable truck. The four cylinder engine fits easily into the engine bay and produces (depending on year and trim) anywhere from 105hp to 145hp and 286-360lb-ft in factory trim producing a very capable off road truck that will run at highway speeds and get 15-17mpg.
It is possible to install the longer six cylinder engine out of a Ram truck (6BT, 6BTA, B5.9, ISB5.9) but you will either have to cut the firewall and rework the transmission hump or push the radiator forward.
I have a website that details the instalation of a 4BT into my '53 M37. I am also getting ready to put up a page with photos and information concerning Mark's 6BT and Don's 6BTA instalations in their M37's. I am also working on a page that sumarizes the dimension, fitment, and performance data for several popular diesels such as the Cummins 6AT3.4, 4BT3.9, 6BT5.9, GM6.x, Detroit 3-53, Hercules DT3.7...
You might also want to look at Charlie's "Diesel in you Dodge" page on this website...
