Way Off Topic -- Garage Door Spring(s)

Over the winter, a garage door spring broke. (135 pounder). Fixed it today.
Has anyone else done this lately??
My question is, the replacement spring(s) are made with a "extra" loop-d-loop at the ends, (instead of just a half loop) --- the only way I can see to install the spring using the existing door spring mounts is to cut, (or grind) the extra loop-d-loop off.
Has anybody else been faced with that problem and what should you do??
(I've obviously installed the safety cable).
