"flat fender" is fine for casual use when you're specifically trying to keep it general (as in interchangeable parts).
It's not so good at uniquely identifying a vehicle, such as when you're selling it.
And unfortunately it's not familiar to newbies.
So I think Gordon is right. Use "Power Wagon" in this case and people will assume flat fender. Use the adjectives to describe something that's NOT a flat fender. This only matters in the ambiguous years anyway.
A "48 Power Wagon" is definitive. A "72 Power Wagon" is definitive (and not a flat fender, of course). But a "62 Power Wagon" is ambiguous. Those are the only ones we need to worry about.
