I understand, I used to get all worked up about Jaguar XKE's, an XK is the 6cyl engine, but the later E's used a V12.
So the "correct" term is currently thought of as "E-Type" for the whole range, 6cyl, and 12 cyl versions.
Older car guys will swoon and say NO it is a XKE, but I am all for correctness, and I think "E-Type" is a better term.
I no longer jump on someone who says they have a series III XKE, as I know, and they most likely know that is not an XKE, why argue? It is still a very pretty, but WILDLY impractical car no matter what you call it.
As the old saying goes, an orchid by any other name would still not smell much.
