If you know you're going to be putting thousands of dollars into restoring it, it would seem kind of sleezy to just give the lady a couple hundred bucks for the original truck. If you're dickering with a guy who knows what he's got, that's one thing, and if the lady is some childless widow you've been doing odd jobs for for years for free and she wants to thank you, that's another, but if it's just a straight business deal at least give her half of what VPW would want. The engine's not a big deal; there's lots of our engines around and lots of people that restore chevys that you can peddle that motor to. With a great body and interior you're already ahead of the most time-consuming and expensive parts of the restoration.
Besides that, call me sexist, but I just don't think it's right to cheat a lady.
