Stock rear PTO with an overiding clutch installed between the Dodge splined stub from the pillow block and the mower's splined yolk on the drive shaft. This way I could stop the truck and the mower blades could "freewheel" without the force trying to continue to "push" the truck.
It worked well and was a lot safer than a tractor on the steep sidehill. The problem was the pasture was only 2 acres in size so it seemed like I was spending more time backing up into the corners and backing to mow the creek bank than going forward. Power steering and a tighter turning radius would have helped. The mower was a 6 foot wide Brillion. It did a real good job on the weeds. After a few years of mowing, there was more grass and less weeds. It didn't do quite as good of a job on the finer grass, but I was still able to mow it to a height of about 5 inches.
People would stop in their cars on the road and stare. Never figured out why. ;^)
