Loose the light! Get a vacumn gauge and first set your idle at approx. 550 rpm. Then adjust your distributor until you pull MAX. vacumn at idle. Lock it in there and take a test run, advance the distributor adjustment more only if you have a stumble or flat spot off of acceleration. You'll find that the vacumn gauge timing method works better for low end power and fuel economy than a light.
