Generic answers, good for most aplications:
Time at warm idle speed, with advance unit disconected. Mark on pulley should be to passenger side, firing 'before'marks line up. The advance unit 'pulls' towards advance. so pushing it will retard, pulling it will advance. Time it at about 5/8" advanced if you need a guesstimate, retard it back slightly if it pings- thats a rattling noise in the engine when under load like acceleration or up hill, worse when hot.
