I have to large books published by Canada of the work they did on Gasification (running gas engines on wood smoke). Its very interesting, one of the large problems they reported was lack of Power on long hills.
Remember the movie Donvans Reef, the school bus had a wood burner on the back. There is a lot more to it that just piping smoke to the engine. At one time I wanted to play with this and make a stationary setup. Now PW's and Carryalls have made that a distant memory.
