Replacing front axle shaft.

I would like to ask for some expert opinions on this problem. I have a '49 PW that I am trying to resurrect. The right front axle shaft is literally gone. I have a parts truck that I hope has a good axle shaft. The question is: What do I have to do to remove the axle from the one truck and install it in the other truck? Suggestions are appreciated.
