on a 6.75w wheel with a Load Cap of 4,700 @
65 psi (D load range) so the 255's are only a bit wider (255's probably dont carry the same load)
if you get a good light alloy16in wheel with the same backside as your 16.5wheels somewhere in the 7in to 8in range you should reduce the unsprung weight resulting in less effort to start / stop / turn the assembly which will result in a ride improvement
but if you go to wide steel wheels with an incorrect backside setting then you will end up with a worse ride
weigh and measure any wheel before you buy it
