A different question about freeze plugs

Have any of you ever installed the cup type of freeze (core) plugs in a Dodge flathead 6, instead of the original equipment type disk plugs?

The disk plugs are hard to find locally, and when I looked at putting a cup type plug in there instead, it looked like it would be a nice, tight fit into the recess in my 230.

I know, I know, I should be using the proper OEM equipment, but I was just wondering if it would work.
