HOW TO INSTALL ROTOR ON M880 , 44 AXLE

Need to install a new rotor on '77 M880(W200) with the full time 44 axle. I have heard this is difficult and requires machine shop work to get tolerances right on the bearings. Anybody done this with success at home with basic knowlege and hand tools? Thanks in advance. Any step by step guide out there?
