This is true! That coil would just sit all charged up with no place to blow! Its waiting on something to tell it to zap!
Might also check and make sure your electronic ignition box is GROUNDED and grounded good! My 74 D200 had fits of not starting or just shutting off going down the road and sometimes it would pick back up and sometimes I would have to stop and crank and crank and it would take off. Seems the box was loosing a ground to the chassis due to the old truck being rusty. After I mounted my own ground block and ran individual wires from the box and wiper motor and heater blower motor things ran better and faster!
