3/4t & 1t third member in 1/2t housing (locker install)

I've heard that the 3/4 ton wc & 1 ton pw third members can be put into the 1/2 housing, so that a model 1210 lockright can be installed. I've just ordered the Dodge Interchange manual. Does anybody have any experience with this? How much work am I getting into.
