Sounds like the ignition coil is not getting any
juice. Check for +12vdc at the + terminal on the
coil when the key is on. Get out your service manual.
Look up the proper resistance figures for the primary and secondary windings of the
ignition coil, then check the resistance of the
pick-up coils. If you have the ignition with two
pick-up coils, the "start" pick-up has less air gap
(longer dwell) and the "run" has more air gap (shorter
dwell). There is a relay that switches between the
two, check that too. If you have the dual ballast
resistor, make sure you hooked it up right, the sides
have different resistance values.
