If you do a re-power 4.89s are essential. If you have a strong flathead and are not running significantly oversized tires, 4.89s may help. Top speed will be 19% higher, rear wheel torque 16% lower. Another option is to keep 5.83s and install a Gear Vendors overdrive behind the transfer case (0.78:1 ratio) for 28% higher top speed for top speed of about 60 (4.89s/flathead will do ~55).
