Oil Hardened Drill Rod

Ok, here is the question; If I get oil hardened drill rod at 1.0624, and grind it down to 1.0325, will I grind off the case hardened material? I think this would be about 1/64 of an inch off all around

What is the depth of case hardeness on OH drill rod?

I hope someone will knows the answer. Thanks
