Agreed. I've had the infamous white smoke syndrome on several imports (Swedish rice included) and invariably it was something simple that caused the major breakdown (crack in rubber hose, leaking overflow tank or radiator) and it melted down cause the owner ingnored the symptoms and kept on driving. In all but one case the aluminum head had to be either reshaped by a machine shop (from being warped) or replaced before the new gaskets went in. The one that went belly up was the Volvo with a bad block also (all from a little split in an exterior rubber hose). In all the R&R heads... the cars are still on the road and the damage was limited to a warped head and blown gaskets. I suggest doing both heads on a V6 at the same time, and if the truck is new enough, get the recall to take care of it. If older I wouldn't let a dealer near it!
