call your local TEXAS DMV office and get all the correct information you need thats what i did in nevada
the DMV sent me a letter listing the proceedure and all the information required as all i had was a bill of sale
got all the info (required title searchs in
7 states + nevada), vin inspection (the dmv
inspector came to the house), a NORTARIZED
BILL of sale, a trip to the DMV office, a STATEMENT of FACT signed by me (at the DMV office), 35 bucks & got a title
all states vary in proceedures but will have a proceedure setup - they are the only ones to believe because they are the ones that you have to deal with to get a title
my list above is what NEVADA required for a 1952 truck with bill of sale only
the title searchs cost about 5-6 bucks plus postage
do not know what the TEXAS dmv is like but NEVADA is great - just like dealing with a
private business that wants to take care of their customers.

ps make sure you get the bill of sale notarized while you are in utah with the seller (download a UTAH bill of sale from their DMV web site if you can)
