Traffic was so bad between the Eisenhower Tunnel and Denver last Saturday that we decided to take Guanella Pass to escape the traffic. It was probably a bad idea since the sun had just set, our'78 Wagoneer was running terribly, and we had no idea how much snow would be piled up on the other side of the pass where there is no winter maintenance.
At around 10,000 feet we came upon a Tahoe that had slid into the road ditch. It wasn't easy without lockers or even decent tires, but we eventually managed to pull them out. The only other vehicle on the mountain was an H2 that passed us without even stopping to see if we needed help. We would have given them a perfect opportunity to show off what their $60,000 had bought them, but I guess it wasn't tempting enough to get them out of their climate controled cockpit.
