I would have to suspect that the owners are taking advantage of the power and stepping into it hard. The V8 Dakota that I traded off a couple of months ago consistantly got 18 mpg in combination driving (I drive conservatively). On the rare occasions that I would push it hard the fuel mileage was worse.
