I see quite a few late model inline motors with busted rods in the salvage yards. Toyota Supra inline sixes appear to not have adequate oiling in the #1 cylinder, several other Japanese motors also appear to have a high number of blown #1 rods.
I don't know whether oil pressure at the crank bearings is uniform on the old Chrysler motors, but I expect there could be a oiling problem which becomes critical, especially when oil levels are too low.
Does any single rod #1 typically blow on a 218/230? If the busted rod pattern is random then there likely is uniform distribution of oil to the bearings.
