busted windshield

I just went out to warm up the FF, and there's a crack in the windshield, about 4" long (now) and directly in front of the defrost vent....is this just a coincidence or is there a problem here with warm air on cold glass??, it's never been a problem before.
any info on changing the glass woulb be helpfull, I suppose I need new rubber too, thanks
