You dont want the load centered over the axles. You need tongue weight. Without the tongue weight your trailer will sway all over. With to much tongue weight, your overloading your hitch and tow vehicle. A load equalizing hitch transmitts the load off the hitch and places it on the frame of the tow vehicle/over the wheels. The load equalizing hitch does not solve a poorly loaded trailer load. Go to the Draw-Tite web site. They have a lot of good info on tow vehicle/ trailer/ tongue weight/load equalizing etc. Its good reading. the URL is www.draw-tite.com
