welding a double frame

got the truck back in the garage today took the cab off to. have some cleaning to do before i sand blast the frame. i was wondering about the double frame .does any body weld theres closed so it cant separate.if i do should i weld it closed or every foot or so . it is a very clean frame with minimal surface rust but i have seen rust between frames before it makes a mess.
