14 gauge or 16 gauge?

Several knowledgeable folks on the Forum have said that the sheet metal on the flatfender is 14 guage. Other knowledgeable folks have said 16 gauge. What is the answer? I assume it is important to have the proper gauge when repairing sheet metal?
