The question is... were the rear belt pully assemblies reversable in terms of the pully drum being oriented to the drivers or the passenger side of the truck a 180 degree flip-flop? I have recently come across a complete pully assemble which I removed from an old PW. During the removal process I noticed the pully drum was oriented to the passenger side of the truck. However all of the pictures and literature I have seen all show the pully drum oriented towards the drivers side of the truck. From a mechanical point of view when the drum is oriented to the passenger side of the truck there is a oil fill plug on the top of the angle drive. When the pully drum is oriented towards the drivers side of the truck the "fill hole" now becomes a drain hole. This might provide a clue as to the correct orientation but I don't know what it should be. The next question would logically be... could the pully direction be reversed through the transmission and would one want to reverse the pully rotation through the trans or through flip-floping the pully drum 180 degrees for any reason at all? The pully orientation can easily be changed by removing the four bolts on the angle drive portion of the assembly and rotating the drum 180 degrees and re-installing the bolts. The base plate which bolts to the crossmember cannot be turned 180 degrees because the center line of the drive shaft is not at the center of the mounting plate it is offset lower down. I am in the process of installing the pully on my PW so any and all info would be appreciated. Were the belt pully made in left and/or right configurations? Thanks in advance.
