I too have used Mobil 1 on everything for about 20 years without a problem. I pushed the oil changes to 5,000 miles but am very strict about that, filters at the same time.
When I forst got my Powerwagon back in 92, I put fresh high detergent 10-30 regular oil, warmed the engine, added a quart of Marvel mystery oil changed the filters and idled the engine for 30 minutes. I brought the revs up and down to 2500 and back to idle for another 15 minutes, drained the oil overnight, changed the filter and topped off with Mobil 1. Never dropped oil pressure, or used a drop after in the next 6,000 miles, and changed the oil every year.
The diesel Mobil 1 is called Delvac 1, I believe.
