Around here in Michigan's thumb, all it takes to liscense and register a vehicle is a title and VIN Number. I have had quite a few vehicles that were put together from more than one vehicle and have never had a problem. Right now, I currently have a '77 Ford F-250 4X4 high boy that is liscensed and registered as a '75 F-100! My friend put that truck together about 10 years ago, from parts of 10 different '73-79 Fords. On those older Fords, the VIN is on the drivers side door jam, so he just used the door off the '75 F-100 and had the title for it as well. He ran the truck about 6 years like that before selling it to me, and I ran it 2 years like that. NEVER had any problems or questions come up from it. Here in Michigan old trucks rust like crazy and having a decent sturdy truck built from parts of several different trucks is very common. I normally dont worry about it, as long as I have a clean title for something that is close to the year of it, that works. I try to make sure that a title matches the VIN on the cab.
