I'm not sure what model of truck that you have, or if it has a ballast resistor (white ceramic looking thingy with wires going to either end - mounted on the firewall).

Mopar diagonstics 101 lesson 1 is - whatever the problem ... replace the ballast resistor.

Seriously, with the symptoms that you are showing - this is probably what it is.
