That's true, for us it is a hobby...but if a stranger calls & asks if you can do the brakes for him on his M37, does this mean we tell him to bring it over & we'll do it for him for only the cost of the parts? No. This means that I do this because I enjoy doing it. If you call me & need help with your brakes...different story....I'd love to help.
When I buy a truck, work on it & improve it...or maybe I don't do anything to it...maybe I've invested all my time tracking down derlic vehicles & I've got myself a great deal on a Flat Fender, all I ask is that I get the market value for it.
If I buy a fully restored 55 C series P/W & have it shipped to me from Australia...what I paid for it is totally irrelevent...I'm going to want in the range of $25,000 for it if I sell it to you.
Here's a story for you...I just bought a Sugga from a fellow in Sweden. I've been searching for one ever since I saw pictures of Brad Z's on this forum. I finally located a fellow in Sweden that didn't have one...but had access to buy the one I wanted. It took many weeks emailing back & forth with this fellow before I realized that he doesn't have this truck, he's just trying to make a buck. He basically wanted me to pay him up front so he could go buy it, & he really didn't want to give me many details, & he certainly didn't want me to think he was marking the price up. Finally I had to send him a long letter explaining to him that...look, I don't care how much you're paying for this vehicle...this is how much I am willing to spend & I really do not mind how much proffit you make on it. I really hope he did make 400% on the deal. I know I'm very happy & I hope he is too so that I can get another through him if I ever want too...know what I mean?
