And don't forget... the M-151, truck, utility, 1/4 ton, 4x4 was not a Jeep. It was a Ford. The only time Ford built Jeeps was in WWII.
The M-151 rollover shots showed what must have been PVC rollover bars. The M-151A2 built by AM General had redesigned rear suspension. The M-151 suffered most from the nut on the steering wheel.
I was assigned a first series (Ford) M-151 in Korea in 1964. I was in civies and had a "blank check" trip ticket. I regularly drove mine on narrow gravel roads at speeds over 60 mph with no handling problems. The secret was to drive it through any bad situation and never hit the panic (brake) pedal.
Of course, my other assigned vehicle was a NEW M-37B1 w/w with less than 2000 miles. Guess which one I liked better. My final answer - M-37B1.
