I was wondering if I was the only person to use starting fluid.
If the poly 318 sits for a week or more, it always takes about 4 attempts at about 4 seconds each on the starter to get enough gas pumped to the carb to start the engine.
My idea was to reduce the wear and tear on the starter. I found that a 1 second burst of starting fluid into the air cleaner intake is enough the start the engine on the first attempt.
The truck runs great until it is parked for a week or more.
The only side affect to this is I can hear a bit of a knock for the first second or so (sometimes).
I have entertained the thought of putting in an electric fuel pump in series with the mechanical one. Maybe I should just bypass it alltogether.
Any thoughts on this?
PS - Winter is upon us- 74 degrees in SoCal
