For a quick fix on your gas tank try "seal all". You should be able to find it in any auto parts store. Its a clear substance in a tube that will bond to your gas tank even if it is wet with fuel and will seal some pretty good sized leaks. If going off road, don't leave home without it!
For gearcase lube, I use standard 90w ( i only use mine in the summer) and multi vis (10-40) in the engine.
