Chevy 350 conversion

I am doing a Chevy 350/SM420 conversion in '53 M37. If I raise the engine enough to clear the fan in the front, The transmission seems too high. Any experienced advice on how high the engine or bell housing mounts should be? I am using the chevy iron truck bell housing and hope to fab mounts to the stock mounting pads.
