Other good 5spds would be a NP540 (if you can find one - they haven't been made for about 20 yrs but still exist, 5th gear is 0.82:1, they are short at 13"; Clark 280VO, 15", 5th = 0.80:1; and Spicer 3053A 2.5 ton diesel army truck 5spd, cheap, 0.85:1 5th, 16.5" long, requires SAE#3 bellhousing. The 3053A is an excellent choice if you're trying to keep costs down, my local surplus place has good running takeouts for $400; it would work best with 4.89s and big tires (11.00R16 or bigger) since the overdrive is relatively modest (2240rpm at 60mph with 4.89s and 11.00s).
