Hard to tell where they were exactly. The best bet is that they were stateside. That is rather late for a WC to go through a rebuild- it is probably one of the last ones. Now, there was a 229th Ordnance Company, which was part of the 29th division, but I doubt that they did that level of rebuild as they were only a Maryland National Guard Unit. It is possible. Unfortunately, unless you can pin down where that unit was stationed during 1954, it is very difficult to determine exactly where the truck was rebuilt. Chances are the Army will have that information in its possession. You might want to contact the Center for Military History in Washington DC. They might be able to find where that unit was stationed.
