I hate the original Dodge ValveCovers on my 76 Dodge 400ci. The gaskets are crap, the valve covers are crap, I drive the highway a lot, so exhaust manifolds get pretty superheated. Since the manifolds are so close to the valve covers it fries the gaskets in about 7,000 miles. Which is really starting to irritate me, because every other oil change I have to spend 3 hours peeling gaskets, and cleaning valve covers. ARRRRGH.
I've tried high temp gaskets, cork gaskets, High Temp silicone on the gaskets, all works well for a few months then bang, all of a sudden the SOB is leaking all over the damn place...
Anyway, enough complaining. Does anyone have a solution to this problem that's not going to cost me $150.00 for new cast aluminum valvecovers. I could do that but I also need to repair my dash, the alt guage, tach, and temp guages seem to have gone berzerk.
