A straight-8 would be too long for our FF PWs. The only other Chrysler "LARGE" Flathead-6 I personally know of was in a early 50's 2-ton truck. The owner said it was a 413 and if I remember correctly, it was approx. 36" long.
Even this would be too long for the FF PWs, if in fact thats what you'd planned to put it in?
A 251 is only 2" longer than the 230 but is much better as the later (61-71)WM300s FF PWs
used this engine.
If one could adapt the 258 inline 6 first used in AMC products then became a chrysler engine (by proxy)used in the jeep line, you'd have approx. 150hp or 190hp with the fuel injected models.
,we'd have a good upgrade (I think) and more power and still be brand loyal.
