This is what happens to my understanding, the fuel pressure gets low from the lift pump, and that blows out the injection pump, big problem with 99s, and up, NOT a problem on 12Vs, hence, I own a 12V.
If your truck had one at 40, it may take another at 80, plus if he lugged it in 5th a lot, it may blow 5th gear off soon, 70,000 is about average from what I hear. 100,000 is high.
It all has to do with how much you luggged the truck at under 2,000 RPM with a load on in 5th, any load. But from what I hear, you will lose it someday on a 99 anyway, do to the type of nut used, Dodge upgraded the nut a couple times.
