I think that, even though it's more expensive, I'll get the dual exh. manifold from Vintage. As for intake, I sorta hate to use a non-stock carb (2 brl) and somehow, for no really good reason, feel better with dual singles, which is pretty silly I guess, and looks like a Rube Goldberg setup if you ask me, but we'll see how it goes. I may just stick with the single carb and be done with it.
I found a good machine shop in Chattanooga. I asked him if he did work on engine blocks, and he said yes. I asked him if he felt comfortable working on old flathead engines, expecting to have to start off at square one with him, and he blurted out "Is it a 230?" He assured me he knew that engine inside out, and you can imagine my relief.
I'll be starting a webpage of the rebuild and will keep you posted.
